Greenoak Shipping
Greenoak Shipping is owned together with Interorient Navigation Co (www.interorient.com). The company has a 50% shareholding in Caspian Maritime which is involved in constructing large Articulated Tug Barges and Shuttle Tankers for use in the Caspian Sea. The vessels will incorporate the latest technology and their design is based on many years of experience gained in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
The tankers will range in size from 55,000 to 63,000 DWT which is the largest size that can be built in the Caspian region.

This project is being developed as a potential alternative to subsea pipelines for the transport of large volumes of Central Asian oil to the market.
In view of the environmental sensitivity of the Caspian Sea, the vessels will be built to the highest safety standards and they will load and discharge their crude oil cargoes using modern offshore loading systems, thus avoiding congested ports. Delivery of the first vessel was originally scheduled for late 2006, but due to delays these vessels will now be operational no earlier than 2009.

Tamara I & II
In the spring of 2003, two new harbour tugs arrived at the Batumi Oil Terminal for permanent duties in assisting tankers to berth at its four berths. Built in 2000, the tugs are of modern design and, with a forty-tonne bollard pull, are ideally suited to their new role of assisting vessels up to 130,000 tonnes to berth. The tugs are of 3000 and 3200 horsepowers, respectively.
The need for new tugs arose when a buoyed mooring was established in the sea outside the confines of the port to enable larger vessels to load cargo. The loading tanker, after tying up to the buoys, picks up a flexible rubber loading hose lying on the seabed to connect to the tanker before commencing loading.

Greenoak initiated this purchase in order to provide for secure berthing of vessels with a length of more than 200 metres (generally, ships above 80,000 tonnes) in accordance with Georgian maritime regulations.
The tugs, Tamara I and Tamara II, are named after the famous Queen Tamara who reigned over a prosperous Georgia during a golden age for the kingdom. She defeated many armies, including that of the Emir of Ardabil of Persia in 1204 and the Turks at the battle of Basiani.
